Spring Renewal: Letting Go and Embracing Fresh Starts
Spring has truly arrived! With more sunny days, occasional rain, and snow staying in its lane, it's time to embrace the season's energy and let go of anything that no longer serves your future self. Whether it's a job, habits, social circles, city, or unused objects, aligning with the next phase of your life means making necessary changes in your environment. Remember, everything has had its purpose, and this transition isn't about shame but acknowledging growth. As we evolve, our priorities and interests shift, prompting us to make courageous changes. If you're feeling the urge for transformation this spring, know you're not alone—it's possible with courage and a plan.
Where do you start? With some reflection paired with a good ol’ letting go ceremony. Below are a few reflection questions to get you started.
What do I need to let go of to make space for new beginnings?
What’s been holding me back?
What feels heavy or like a burden?
How would my life change if I let go of these things?
Where do I see myself in the future?
Can I visualize the future version of myself using my 5 senses? (Take a minute or more to do this)
How can I support myself through the process of letting go?
Are there any external supports that can help me during this process? (e.g, nature, music, movement, friend)
What is my ceremony going to look like and where will it take place?
What new habits would I like to implement into my routine?
Please also feel free to add your own reflection questions to make this process more tailored to suit your needs!
If this marks your first letting go ceremony, I'm excited for you. Allow me to share some ideas on how to release things that no longer resonate with you:
1. Begin by listing everything you're ready to LET GO OF. Once completed, consider burning or tearing it apart. Then, on another sheet, jot down what you WANT as though it's already yours. You can choose to burn or keep this for future reflection.
2. For those focusing solely on physical items, go through each room, gathering things that serve no purpose in your life. Reflect on their significance, either through writing or internal contemplation. If they're in good condition, consider donating or selling them—someone else may cherish them.
3. If art is your medium of expression, paint or draw something that embodies your emotions and what you wish to part with.
4. If music speaks to you, consider composing a song as a means of self-expression.
5. If movement is your outlet, set an intention before your workout. Envision releasing what no longer serves you throughout the session.
The goal is to personalize this ceremony, so follow your instincts and do what feels right for you.
Remember to enjoy the process too. It’s an exciting time where you get to evaluate your current circumstances and decide how you’ll revamp yourself! Nature does this all the time and guess what, you’re a part of it.
I’ll be holding my own ceremony today, and that’s no joke.
